Impressive that you'd read Pride and Prejudice in English first. I only understood about 50% of Divergente, but since I had already read it in English first and knew the story, it didn't matter if I got lost.Brooke Lorrenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11622836180397123557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7657999976167833615.post-51130959812422115972018-07-25T05:37:19.881-05:002018-07-25T05:37:19.881-05:00Yeah, I think the first two movies were on VHS in ...Yeah, I think the first two movies were on VHS in my country. The first one definitely, because the remote for my VCR had the "record" and "play" buttons so close to each other that I was terrified of pressing the wrong button lol. Oh, those were the days. Especially since I was always the type of person to try to understand a word based on the context. Nowadays is so much easier with e-readers because you have the dictionary right there, but I always hated stopping to check the dictionary for a word. CYKaS was also my first Kinsella book. And hey, I couldn't not include Dead Until Dark. After all, Eric is in it lol. I totally loved reading it. I remember seeing the news coverage of each and every HP book release and wishing I could be there too. We'd always get them about a month or two later. It certainly has a different feel to it than the rest of the books from the series, in the sense that the pace is much slower. But yes, more vampire books I say. I remember watching the movie though, and maybe it was this movie my cousin covered my eyes with, but it might have been Pirates of the Caribbean.Sophia @ Bookwyrming Thoughtshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08649156623055831699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7657999976167833615.post-51510997349239263772018-07-24T16:30:20.639-05:002018-07-24T16:30:20.639-05:00Great entry! It's just super sweet to read that about someone; reading a book in another language, at an early age and being able to understand 50% of it. Ah, "Can You Keep a Secret?" is so lovely. I think it was my first book by the author. I adored it. Like you, it led to me checking out more Chick Lit. And, I'm super swooning over you including "Dead Until Dark", "Harry Potter", "Lord of the Rings" and Anne Rice. Thanks for sharing! Also, HP is always tied to summer for me because that's usually when they were released in the US and I would line up for midnight releases :)Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02288722022982656753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7657999976167833615.post-39950786644919328782018-07-24T10:07:44.744-05:002018-07-24T10:07:44.744-05:00Pride and Prejudice was one of my first English bo...Pride and Prejudice was one of my first English books as well! I'd never read anything like that and was completely hooked.
