Book Trailer Reveal: Frigid by J. Lynn

Book Blurb: (from Goodreads)

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn’t anything new. They’d been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the ‘man’ in man-whore. He’s never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn’t want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she’s perfect and she’s everything. But the feelings he has for her, he’s always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they’re stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor’easter, there’s nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

Obsessed With Covers #9: Evertrue, Elusion, Cruel Beauty

Y'all know how much I love a pretty cover. I think about...40% of the books that end up on my shelves (be they physical or digital) do so because of the covers. Call me shallow but you have to admit that a pretty, shiny cover will catch your eye faster than a dull, boring one. Two, simple rules that I'll follow:

  • 1, 2 or 3 (no more than 3, though) covers per week;
  • books should be new-ish; no more than 2 years old.
Oh, before I share the covers that made me drool or want to stare at them for hours and hours, I have to say something. This is a semi-original idea. Why semi? Because almost every book blogger has something similar. The only thing I came up with was the title. If by any chance there's another blogger with a similar feature with the same title, I assure you I'm not stealing your idea. I'm just THAT bad with titles. Believe me, I'd love to be smarter and have a witty name for this feature, but I don't. So, no copyright infringement/theft/steal or anything of the sort was desired. All I can say is sorry :P

So, here are the prettiest covers I've seen this week.

Man, I can't even put into words how much I love this cover! It's just amazing! The dress that has a hint of glitter (I refuse to say it sparkles!) and that transforms into rows of big, fluffy clouds? Just gorgeous!

Evertrue by Brodi Ashton

A crystal ball that reveals a seemingly normal girl in a somewhat normal world that is filled with magical objects/things? Yup, this cover is great!

Elusion by Claudia Gabel & Cheryl Klam

This cover is beautiful and scary at the same time. I love the rose (kind of symbolic) and I love the girl running down the stairs. Circular stairs are cool too. But the angle of that image freaks me out. I'm scared of falling and the angle of the image makes me believe it would be a loooong way down. And painful. But it's still a pretty cover :D

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Growing up I had dreams that one day I'd fall in love, get married and start a family. Then one night I was taken. But I survived, I escaped and I was saved. Eric didn't see me as  damaged. He didn't see my baby as a monster. He protected me, he kept me safe ... he saved me.

“Thank you, Captain,” was all she said, but he could feel her stiffen even though he was no longer touching her.
“I’ll be back later to see how you’re doing.” He didn’t know why he did it when he reached down and smoothed back the stray wisps of hair that dangled in her face.
“Remember what I said, Abby: You’re safe here. If you’re hungry, you say something. If you’re scared, tell me. If you’re hurting, you have to speak up. No one is going to hurt you here. I don’t know how to make you believe it.”
She was staring at him now, but for the life of him he couldn’t figure out what was going on in her head. He let out a sigh because there was nothing more he could do here. His hand was on the door, and he was about to yank it open when she said, “Captain, could you do me a favor?” He turned around and faced her and was nearly undone by her eyes, swimming with a sheen of tears.
“Could you keep telling me I’m safe? I think if I hear you tell me over and over, I’ll start to believe it. I think I will.”

2012 was an amazing year in the publishing world for me, and it started with The Forgotten Child, which landed on the Amazon bestseller list for western romance and romance series. With the publication of each novel and short story, each one made its way to the top ten for its respective genre. 2013 has seen me posted in the top 100 authors on Amazon for romantic suspense and mystery/thrillers, police procedural.

Where did it all begin? In 2008, I published my first novel, The Captain’s Lady, a contemporary military romance, through The Wild Rose Press. This year I have a crazy writing schedule with four books scheduled for release and six short stories.

I write three genres, edgy romantic suspense (Walk the Right Road Series), western romance (Finding Love ~ The Outsider Series), and young adult mystery, and I warn my readers to expect the unexpected. I’m the mother of three children, one a special needs child. We live on a small Island in the Pacific Northwest, where I advocate for the environment and the rights of special needs children. Somewhere in my busy schedule, I do find time to write. I encourage you to contact me by email; I do answer every email I receive.

Stay tuned. There is more to come from the Walk the Right Road Series and Finding Love ~ The Outsider Series.

And to my readers and all of you who have shared my stories with your family and friends, a big heartfelt thank you.

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 3 - Who are your blogging BFFS?

I read about this challenge yesterday on various book blogs that I stalk read and I decided to join in. The challenge  was created by April @ Good Books, Good Wine and I think it's a very good and interesting idea. So here I am :) If you want to do this too, go to her Day 1 page to learn how :D

Day 3: Who are your blogging BFFS?

Blogging BFFS. This is a tough one. You know, I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm not the world's most social person. Both in my real life or as a blogger. Oh, I probably drive my friends nuts but it takes a while for me to get there. I just think that if I don't have something even remotely smart or interesting to say, I'd better shut up (I do occasionally suffer from the Foot Inside Mouth syndrome, with a hint of Brain Not Online While Talking syndrome... So it's a safe bet to keep my mouth shut and my fingers still). Here are three of the bloggers that I have come to consider to be my blogging friends:
  1. Carmel @ Rabid Reads
  2. Laura @ Colorimetry
  3. Samantha @ Chick Lit Plus
I've stalked their blogs before I finally said to myself "I can comment without making a fool out of myself" and I think they're just amazing.

There are a lot of amazing bloggers out there, I'm just a weird creature. And I certainly stalk a lot of blogs. So one of the things on my To-Do list is to socialize more.

Who are your BFFs in the blogging community?

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge: Day 2 What's your bedtime reading ritual?

I read about this challenge yesterday on various book blogs that I stalk read and I decided to join in. The challenge  was created by April @ Good Books, Good Wine and I think it's a very good and interesting idea. So here I am :) If you want to do this too, go to her Day 1 page to learn how :D

Day 2: What's your bedtime reading ritual?

I don't actually have a ritual. It sounds a little sad, I know, but the only thing that has to be perfect and present every time I read at night is the comfiest pillow I can find. Of course, if you'd see my bed, you'll probably wonder how many pillows a person can have in just one bed, but that's another story. Usually if I read on my laptop, I will almost always have a cup of hot tea near me. I don't do this if I read paperbacks or on my e-reader though. I can't say it's a ritual though.

I used to read on my laptop a lot, because I didn't have an e-reader, but lately I feel that I need my glasses on or else my eyes get weird, so I've stopped reading at night from the laptop. It probably has something to do with me not having a light on while using it at night, but shhh! Don't tell!

I've been called an owl by my BFF, just because my bedtime hour is way after midnight. I can honestly say that the last time I actually went to bed (and fell asleep) before midnight was 3 years ago, when I had two intense days of exams at university, to get my bachelor's degree. But I usually go to bed at around...say 2, 3 am. So after doing everything I need to do before I go to bed, I start reading at about 1 am and I usually push myself if the book is good. If I like the book I'll do anything in my power to not fall asleep and go on reading. I can function pretty well the next day, I'm not cranky or anything, but I do need more coffee. Also, the real "ritual" that I can think of is to take small breaks after reading several chapters, when I try to find out if my limbs are still working. That's because I forget to change positions, and I'll end up with a stiff back, my legs are in pain and one arm is asleep.

So basically that's my bedtime reading ritual. What's yours?
