Yet another great addition to the Eternal Mates series! Have I mentioned I am growing to love this series yet? Because I am. I love the idea of fates mates, and this series feeds that need. This time it's a demon king and a succubus to find their happily-ever-after and I loved their story.

Tegan is bored. That is the first thing that pops into my head when I think about him. He's a demon meant for war, but he's forced to be a peaceful king. He struggled with the idea that he was king, even after a centuries of wearing the crown, after his brother's murder. His advisers are power-hungry centuries-old demons that will do anything to keep the power for themselves, even if it means that Tegan is close to doing something foolish. Tegan turned out to be a very sweet hero. He had soft parts that I did not expect. He may hate the fact that he had to take up the crown in his brother's place, but he is a good king. He wants to help modernize his realm, and basically bring them at the same technological level as the modern human world. He loves reading, and he has his own private collection of books, for which unfortunately his advisers tease and mock him. Can you guys tell I really hated his advisers? Tegan was much more patient with them than I would have been, to be honest.

Once he met Suki, Tegan was so tender with her. Sure, he had his alpha tendencies, but he was sweet to her, even when she was kind of mean with him. He was interested in her, but when the time came, he didn't force the mating bond on her. It was such a tender moment, even though it caused him a lot of pain and he had to ask Suki to drain his energy, risking his life. I loved him then a little bit more than I thought I would, if I'm being honest with you guys. Of course, this wouldn't be a true love story without some drama, so he did act a bit foolish towards the end, but I don't fully blame him. In the end he got his head out of his ass and that's what's important here, guys!

Suki was a darling. For a succubus she sure didn't behave like one. She wasn't intent on killing men, she wasn't using her power over men to get everything she desired, unlike her sisters. Which meant that her sisters saw her as weak, basically a disappointment to her clan and her species. So at first she pursued Tegan out of selfish reasons. Even though she was attracted to him, and her feelings were genuine, she didn't believe they were anything more than her hunger, and she wanted to prove herself to her clan sisters. No one explained to her what it meant to have a fated mate or how she could recognize one, so she had no way of knowing that Tegan was her one. I felt for her, really. Her mother was dead, her clan sisters were real bitches, and she found out that her dear friend was apparently abducted.

I really liked the chemistry between Suki and Tegan. I'd even say it was a bit of a slow burn story, because their story sure took a while to truly start. I loved their interactions a lot, there were hot moments but also really tender moments. I mentioned that Suki was a bit mean to him in the beginning, but she was teasing him mostly about something she didn't know he was sensitive about. So from his perspective she was mean, but from hers it was an innocent thing.

The plot was evenly paced. The first part of the book was mostly focused on the relationship between the two main characters, with very few scenes involving other story-lines. Then towards the end we get to see there's a war brewing and Tegan finally gets his wish to go to war. Interesting things happen there, that's all I'll say because there's some major spoilers.

I have no idea what will happen in the next book, and I love that feeling, because it makes me even more curious. A part of me wishes it will be about Suki's friend that was abducted, along with a friend of Tegan's. That would be very cool. I also have my eye on Tegan's younger brother, Ryker. I need him to find his fated mate.

All in all, I really loved this story and can't wait to see what happens next. While I wait for the next book I must read the series from the start, because I truly like paranormal romances about fated mates and Felicity Heaton writes them so well.
