Mid Year Freak Out Tag 2020

Hello my lovely people! It's been a hot minute since we've chatted. How has your life been? How have you guys dealt with quarantine? It seems unreal that it's time for this tag, because 2020 has been a rough year. BUT here we are and we cannot ignore that it's already July. JULY!! I swear, I didn't even feel my birthday this year. Let's start with the tag!

New Year Book Tag

Bookish Tag @ Ruby's Books

Hi everyone! It's been a hot minute since I last did a tad. But I checked my BuJo to see which ones I could do and boy, I was scared by how many I've hoarded collected so far. The New Year Book Tag is a tag that Izzy @ Nine Tale Vixen has created and let me tell you I am super stoked that she tagged me to do it as well. People, it's full of awesome stories.

If you're doing this tag, don't forget to link back to the creator of the tag, a.k.a. Izzy. So without further ado, let's do this.

Anti-Valentine's Day Tag

Bookish Tag @ Ruby's Books

Hi everyone! It's been ages since I last did a tag, and I have hoarded a lot of them oops. I also am very much aware that Valentine's Day is way behind us, but this is just to show how much I don't care for this particular...celebration? Whatever you want to call it (the romantic gene skipped a generation or two in my family LOL).

Anyway I was tagged by both Isabelle and Sophia to do this tag and I'm going to answer both sets of questions in one post. Let's get started!

Here are the rules for this lovely tag:

  • Link back to the blog that tagged you!
  • Answer the 10 anti-Valentine’s Day questions provided.
  • Come up with your own 10 anti-Valentine’s questions for blogs you tag.
  • Tag ten other bloggers to do the tag!

The Olympic Book Tag

This amazing book tag was created by Shannon from It Starts At Midnight and it is absolutely glorious. When I was a kid I used to watch the gymnastics events, synchronized diving, diving. I also used to watch show jumping, because the horses are gorgeous, but not so much anymore. Anyway, on with the tag.

I actually loved this book, from the very beginning. Especially since it starts with the girl hiding in a library. I'd hide there and never get out. EVER! Can you live from pizza and books?

I read The Edge Of Never about three years ago, and I remember loving it. I might do a reread soon.

Look, there's no nice or cute way for me to say it. Unless it's in erotic romance, in which case there's a threesome, I don't care for love triangles. And it's not a triangle. It's usually a character (most of the times female) that's attracted to two other characters (most of the times males) and doesn't know who to choose, because that character kind of needs to grow up and understand that there's love and then there's lust, and in no way does finding someone attractive means you're a cheater, but kissing someone else does and for the love of all the bookish gods, let's not have love triangles anymore please and thank you!

Look, Sophie Kinsella is probably one of my favorite authors ever, and she's on my Auto-buy list and probably will stay there forever. However, the Shopaholic series confuses me to no end. Because, and this is an honest question of mine, HOW MUCH TROUBLE CAN YOU GET INTO AND NOT LEARN ANYTHING FROM IT???? Becky seriously doesn't learn a goddamn thing, and it becomes frustrating. I actually put this one aside, because maybe I'll forget what the series is all about and pick this one up and like it, but honestly, I feel like 3 books about these characters are enough. Sorry, Shopaholic fans out there.

I realize now that haven't read many book set during the summer, which is very sad. I did love Nantucket Blue a lot.

Helm's Deep, people, Helm's Deep.

Although I've stopped reading this series a while ago, I do remember one of the plot twists in this book that had me reconsidering, in a way, the books that I did read. Not a huge one, necessarily, but an important one. Maybe I'll pick the books up again sometime.

I think I've only ugly-cried during only a handful of books. One of them is this one. Because what else can you do when a character is drawing a portrait of their loved one and their child and then you get to learn the ugly truth, that I won't mention because major spoilers, but it's painful and I'm feeling like crying just thinking about it?!

Although a good book, Ironskin was too slow-paced for my taste.

Y'all were expecting me to say Harry Potter weren't you? I thought about it, and I realized that while, yes, it is a childhood favorite, it's not the book that I first fell in love with. The Hunchback is a fantastic book, and while it has some moments when I was confused, because most of the action is supposed to happen over the course of just two days, I loved it.

There are so many animals in Harry Potter that I adore. But you know what? I want to know what happened to Croockshanks.

It's not that this book is bad, because it's not. My main issue is that I knew who the killer was before the detectives confirmed it. I felt disappointed that the author showed from the first few pages who the killer was. Sure, there's a certain twist at the end that kind of makes up for it, but barely, really.

The relationship that Wesley and Bianca have is pretty weird, and not a platonic friendship in any way, but I like it.

So I admit that I haven't read many books featuring Olympic sports. The only one that I can think of is Girl Against The Universe. I do imagine that at least one of the books from the Play by Play series by Jaci Burton features an Olympic sport, but I'm not sure.

*phew* I had fun doing this tag! Thanks Shannon for making it! Did you make the tag? If you did, let me know so I can check it out.

Hamilton Book Tag

Hey guys! I recently decided to listen to Hamilton, because I was insanely curious about it. Tons of bloggers that I know love it, so I went ahead and did it. I'm halfway through it, but I adore it so far. I hope I'll be able to see it live one day, because, as I said, I adore what I heard so far.

Because my new love for this musical, I decided to do the Hamilton Book Tag, created by Maureen over on her booktube channel. There are 10 questions, as well as 6 bonus questions if you want to answer them. I'll try to do them all. Here we go:

THE QUESTIONS:
1. The Room Where It Happens: Book world you would put yourself in
I'd love to be in the Dark Hunter world. Because vampires, demons, ancient gods and all of that. Also, ACHERON!

2. The Schuyler Sisters: Underrated Female Character
I had a really hard time answering this question, mostly because the majority of the books I read are about strong, powerful women, and not just the MCs. Even women who are secondary characters receive enough attention in the books I read. With that said, I feel like Christina from the Divergent series by Veronica Roth could have been a little more in the spotlight. Molly too. Of course, I didn't finish reading the trilogy, so I don't know how their story ends beyond Insurgent.

3. My Shot: A character that goes after what they want and doesn't let anything stop them
I feel like this is the description of almost every villain I've read about. Hmmmm... I remember reading the scene when Tris steps forward and is the first one to jump off the building after she chose Dauntless. I remember admiring her and thinking "Man, I wished I had her courage." So I'd say Tris from the first book of the Divergent trilogy. And I say the first book, mainly because I felt like she was affected too much by what happened at the end of that first book and became kind of a shell of her old self as the story moved on.

4. Stay Alive: A character you wish was still alive
HA! Spoiler alert for Harry Potter!

Fawkes. We only get to see this bird a few times in the story, but for me, his death was harder to take than the death of Dumbledore. Of course, we just can't forget about Fred Weasley *ugly sobbing*

5. Burn: The most heartbreaking end to a relationship you’ve ever read
Landon and Jamie from A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks, and Tudor and Mihaela from Invitation To Waltz by Mihail Drumes, a Romanian author. These are two of the books that basically destroyed me when I read them, and while beautiful, I could never read another book like that again, because it is just painful and heartbreaking.

6. You'll Be Back: Sassiest villain
He's not...well...*sighs* He's not a villain, he's just a... would it be insanely cliche to call him misunderstood? I'm talking about Seth from the Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. He is one of those characters I fell in love with, completely ignoring what he did during the last two books of the series.

7. The Reynolds Pamphlet - A book with a twist that you didn’t see coming
Interred With Their Bones by Jennifer Lee Carrell had a pretty awesome twist at the end and even though everyone said they saw it coming a mile away, I didn't. And I think I reread that book about 3 times already, and it still takes me by surprise.

8. Non-stop: A series you marathoned
The Vampire Academy, Dark Hunter, Covenant, Southern Vampires Mysteries, I've marathoned so many series in the past. Most of the books I read are part of a series, and I love getting lost in the world of a series so much that I binge-read as many books as I can from that series.

9. Satisfied: Favorite book with multiple POVs
Ooooh. Return of the King just popped into my brain when I read that question. There's a beauty in having more POVs that I adore, and that novel, as is the case with the first books in that trilogy, is full of multiple POVs.

10. Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story: A book/series you feel like will be remembered throughout history
Harry Potter. No question. It's just one of those series that become classic.

BONUS QUESTIONS (short answers):
1. Helpless: A relationship you were pulling for from the very start - Elena and Clay from Women of the Otherworld. There's just something about those two that made my shipper heart go wild.

2. Ten Duel Commandments: Favorite fight scene - The Battle of Hornburg, also known as Helm's Deep, from The Two Towers will always be my absolute favorite fight scene.

3. Say No To This: Guilty pleasure read - I've said this before and I'll say it again: I don't believe in guilty pleasure reads, so I don't have one. There's no book that I've ever read that makes me ashamed or feel guilty for reading it.

4. What Comes Next: A series you wish had more books - Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong needs another full length novel. That being said, if the author herself doesn't feel like there are any stories to tell there, I'd rather keep wishing there was, than get a book that isn't as good as the entire series.

5. Right Hand Man - Favorite BROTP - I gotta give it to Gimli and Legolas. There's just something unique about those two.

6. What’d I Miss: A book or series you were late to reading - HA! I started reading Women of the Otherworld when the last book was released, so I was VERY late.

So that was a fun tag! Long, but fun. If you want to do this, go ahead. And if you've already done this tag, share the link for me to check out your answers.

The 15 Weird Questions Tag

Yesterday I saw that Jen @ The Starry Eyed Revue answered 15 weird questions and since it looks very fun and since I'm super weird, I decided to answer them as well. Here we go

1. A nickname that you get called

It used to be Tweety up until a few years ago. These days I'm called by my name, which is kinda good. Makes me feel slightly normal, which is a nice feeling :))

2. A weird habit

My habits aren't weird, they're just unique. Before I get out of the house, I triple check everything, from the stove, to the windows, to the doors. EVERYTHING. If I don't do that, I will be bothered by the idea that I may have forgotten to check something all day long. That sounds OCD-ish, doesn't it?

3. A weird phobia

Spiders are disgusting. I am also terrified of the times when I need to get up on a chair to reach something in my upper kitchen cabinets.

4. A song you are ashamed to like so you blast it in private

I'm not ashamed to like any songs, really. I do make sure I'm not surrounded by minors if I blast some hip hop because you know... curse words.

5. A pet peeve

 photo tumblr_m4ponnSpu31qft0ilo1_500_zpsd700b872.gif
"A" pet peeve? I like how this one is phrased. Like I have just one. The biggest one...it's... Look. I have sensitive hearing. I hate repetitive noises. Like people who click a ballpoint pen on and off. WHY THE HELL DO YOU DO THAT???? WHY? After 5 minutes spent in the company of those people I wanna smack them. Hard.

6. A nervous habit

Cracking my knuckles, bouncing my feet, tapping my fingers. You know, signs of a well-adjusted individual *laughs nervously*

7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?

The middle. I have a big-ass bed, so I get to sleep in the middle.

8. The name of your first stuffed animal.

Benny. It was a pink bunny that has somehow survived for nearly 3 decades (gosh, I'm old!). I still have it today and he sometimes makes himself noticed in some of my Instagram photos. But he's a shy bunny, so he doesn't let me take photos of him every day.

9. What do you buy at Starbucks?

I live in Italy, so no Starbucks, at least not in my town. But I usually get espresso when I go to cafeterias. On rare occasions, I'll drink cappuccinos, which are delicious, but not strong enough :)) I've also discovered ginseng coffee recently. It's not bad, and the coffee fiend in my appreciates it, but again I need something stronger.

10. Beauty rule

Whatever you decide to do, try out a new haircut, put on makeup, dress in fancy clothes or comfy clothes or whatever, do it for yourself. Because you need to like yourself, regardless of what other people think of you.

11. Which way do you face in the shower?

Ummm...I...rotate? I mean... Damn, I never thought of that. I usually stay with my back to the shower, because I need my back to be warm, otherwise I don't enjoy my shower. Does that make me weirder?

12. A weird body skill

I'm flexible which in my case is a negative thing. I can bend my left thumb backwards to touch my forearm. I can bend my toes and keep them in a "fist" for long periods of time. I'm too flexible, which can create problems and in fact has created some problems in the past for me.

13. Comfort food

Chocolate. I eat chocolate when I'm sad, when I'm happy, when I'm feeling crappy because of my period (TMI there, I know), when I feel like I need to reward myself after managing a full week of healthy diet. Chocolate is very versatile for me :D

14. A word or phrase that you say all the time

Do curse words count? Hell, I say hell a lot.

15. What do you sleep in?

A t-shirt. Or sometimes, if I'm really cold, I'll sleep in a PJ shirt.

This was fun! I might do more tags soon. If you want to do it, go ahead. Let me know so I can check your answers :D

Taylor Swift Book Tag

I discovered this tag about a month ago on Youtube and I've seen some of my favorite bloggers do it to, so I decided to join in. I love Taylor's music and I think this is actually a cool idea. The tag was created by Sarah @ The Book Life.

So, here we go.

1. For ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ pick a book (or book series) that you were pretty sure you were in love with, but then wanted to break up with.

This one is easy. It's Divergent by Veronica Roth. I read the first book and LOVED it. Read the second book and I wasn't that impressed. I have no interest in reading the third book. And not because of the ending. Yes, I read the spoilers. Funnily enough, the ending actually kind of makes me want to read the last book.

I felt like instead of seeing Four and Tris mature and grow in Insurgent, they became the characters that I would've expected to meet at the beginning of their journeys.

2. For ‘Red’ pick a book with a RED cover.

This is my favorite book so far with a red cover. It is AH-MAZING! I love Roth. *swoons*

3. For ‘The Best Day’ pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic

I was a kid when this book came out and it basically became the center of my universe for a long period of time. I am part of the generation that grew up with this series, so it's hard not to get a little bit nostalgic when I read it. But then again, this is the only book I've ever read in my life that manages to take me back to that moment in time when I first read it and it makes me feel like a kid again.

4. For ‘Love Story’ pick a book with forbidden love.

This series is...wow! I do not even want to think about the fact that it has ended. I just refuse to acknowledge that little detail.

5. For ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ pick a book with a bad character you couldn’t help but love.

Sometimes authors do something so incredibly magical and fantastic and makes me love them more. They write a series about good vs evil, where the evil is just that. And the magic happens when they write a book for a character from "the other team". And that's just pure awesomeness and I love it. Same thing happened with Obsession.

6. For ‘Innocent’ (written b/c of Kanye West!) pick a book that someone ruined the ending for.

I don't know if I've told this story before or not, but back in middle school, about the same time that the 1st Harry Potter movie came out, a classmate and I were reading The Three Musketeers at the same time. I was a bit behind though, because back then I was a slow reader (think snail-like speed). We used to take the same subway on the way home, and we'd start talking about random stuff and when we realized we were reading the same book, we chatted about it. I kept asking him questions about where he was at, so in all fairness, it wasn't his fault that he spoiled the book for me. He would always start saying how I should read it myself and not ask him, but by then he'd already started telling me stuff, so the will to read it kind of disappeared. Maybe one day I'll try reading it again and see for myself how it ends.

7. For ‘Everything has changed’ pick a character from a book who goes through extensive character development.

Hmmm...This one is a bit tough, but I'll point to the Bloodlines series above and to Adrian Ivashkov. He grows up in this series. A lot.

8. For ‘You Belong With Me’ pick your most anticipated book release.

I need this book like I need to breathe. I NEED MY ROTH FIX!!!

9. For ‘Forever and Always’ – Pick your favorite book couple

I really, really can't choose one. There's just too many book couples that I love to choose from. However, the most recent one has to be Layla & Roth from the Dark Elements by Jennifer L. Armentrout (I choose to believe that they'll end up together).

10. For ‘Come Back, Be Here’ pick the book you would least like to lend out, for fear of missing it too much.

Yeah, no one is ever touching this puppy but me. EVER! And if that sounds mean then so be it. Come to think of it, no one can touch his brother's book, Acheron, either. Just... not an option.

This was so much fun! I'm bad at tagging people, so if you read this and want to give it a go, consider yourself tagged :D
