That's when the fates step in. Bram Tice, a fae hunting his own kind, vows to help Chloe. But he won't say which Court demands his allegiance. Together, they set out to right the imbalance plaguing her world and save humanity before it turns into nothing more than remnants of ash.

It's been a while since I last read a book about fae that I enjoyed. This was also my first CK Dawn book and I have to say, I am impressed. I am very impressed.

Remnants of Ash is a story of how the fae brought on the apocalypse to the human realm, and Chloe and Bram are the ones fighting to stop the creatures from killing every human on the planet. As always with these kinds of books, I loved the fact that the author chose to present the fae as truly evil. I almost got some Lost Girl vibes from this book, and if you know me, you know that that show is one of my favorite TV shows ever. Which is a good thing in case you're wondering.

The world building in this story was fantastic. Common fae themes blend with fresh takes on the creatures, and they make a unique combination that I loved. The fae are generally bad in this story, no matter if they belong to the light or dark faction. Which is why it was so difficult at first to trust Bram. While I didn't think he was fae from the very beginning, once Chloe discovered his nature I had my doubts about him. That being said, I did kind of like him.

Chloe was a mystery. She seems like just a regular human that just knows about fae and is trying to help her teacher prevent this war from reaching the human realm, but is she truly human? Or is there more to her than meets the eye? This you will have to find out for yourselves, my dear readers, but I will tell you this: you will enjoy the ride.

I wasn't that much of a fan of the budding romance between Chloe and Bram. I would have wanted to see them be allies and fight against the fae side by side without the romantic element, which... I admit is strange for me.

The narrator did a great job bringing this story to life. I really enjoyed the way she brought out all of the characters. At first for some reason I didn't connect with the narrator, but once the story started progressing I found myself more and more drawn to her technique. I hope she also narrates the sequel.

The plot was pretty fast paced, and I found myself wanting for more. I will definitely be reading the sequel, because I need to know what happens next. All in all, a very good start for a series.

USA Today bestselling author, coffee loving gamer girl, and Sci-fi enthusiast. CK Dawn always loved to snuggle up with her cat Hagrid (the shadow-seer & Netherwalker inspiration) and read. But, with a nudge of encouragement from her lil’ sis, she found writing fantasy stories was even better than just reading about them. So, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away CK let her unique modern tale of knights and Camelot dancing in her head take form and fly with Cloak of Shadows, her Readers' Favorite award winning debut novel in the Netherwalker series. Now, you can find CK writing in the witching hours with Hagrid by her side while being distracted far too often by social media.
