What a fun read, guys! It's been a while since I discovered a new paranormal romance series, and I'm very happy to have stumbled across the Forbidden series.

Forbidden Claim is mainly the story Isabelle and Zane, with two other couples, Tegan and Reid, Quentin and Hunter, finding their happy endings as well. I enjoyed seeing all three relationships develop, and I loved seeing how different each relationship was. The main couple is Isabelle and Zane, as they try to escape a dangerous, possessive werewolf intent on making Isabelle his mate. Isabelle finally gets the courage to leave her boyfriend, Bram, and that means she has to ask for help from her best friend. I respected the hell out of Isabelle, because she didn't have it easy with Bram. He's an abusive jerk, and the fact that she found the courage to leave him is something I respected and applauded. I liked her, but I did find her a little bit too good and innocent for this world. I couldn't really put my finger on it, but there was something that made me think she was one of those truly innocent people.

Zane is a great guy. He's in love with Isabelle, even if he doesn't use the exact words, and the minute he finds out she's in trouble he steps up and helps her in ways that most people wouldn't. Sure, the world they live in has special rules, but the fact that he helps her hide and marries her to help her escape Bram made him my kind of hero. They also had insane chemistry, which I enjoyed a lot.

I also enjoyed the other two couples from this book. I liked the fact that the stories were complementing each other. It's tricky  for me to read a book that has more main characters, but each had a different voice and I didn't have any issue with connecting with either of them.

This was my first time reading a book in this series, but let me tell you, I was impressed by the fact that I didn't feel lost or like I couldn't possibly understand the events in this book. It takes a really good storyteller to make me feel like it's natural for me to read a book in a series without having all the knowledge that the previous books bring, and this author duo did just that. Sure, I wished I could have found this series a little earlier, but I enjoyed this book a lot even without knowing anything about the world of the shifters and vampires from this series.

The story is pretty fast paced and there were moments where I laughed out loud quite a bit. The book also finally addresses one of my biggest curiosities when it comes to vampires, which is periods. It's not a big scene, it's not something that changes the course of the story, it's just one of those random daily scenes that happens that had me clapping my hands excitedly.

I am curious about this series a lot. I loved seeing the different types of shifters working together, and working with the vampires, and I have a million questions about that. So I am definitely going to go back and read the series from the start.

All in all, a great read and I am excited to see what happens next.

About R.L. Kenderson:

R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name.

Renae has always loved reading, and in third grade, she wrote her first poem where she learned she might have a knack for this writing thing. Lara remembers sneaking her grandmother’s Harlequin novels when she was probably too young to be reading them, and since then, she knew she wanted to write her own.

When they met in college, they bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. What really spiced up their friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels. When they discovered their first vampire romance, they knew there would always be a special place in their hearts for paranormal romance. After being unable to find certain storylines and characteristics they wanted to read about in the hundreds of books they consumed, they decided to write their own.

One lives in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the other in the Kansas City area where they’re a sonographer/stay-at-home mom/wife and pharmacist/mother by day, and together they’re a sexy author by night. They communicate through phone, email, and whole lot of messaging.
