Down The TBR Hole #14

Down The TBH Hole @ Ruby's Books

Hello dear book lovers and welcome to another post in the Down The TBR Hole feature hosted by the awesome Lia.

I decided on a goal with these weekly cleanup, guys. Since I know myself really well, I know I won't be able to control my tendencies to add more books on the TBR, mostly because I keep discovering new authors to love, so I have decided that I will be happy with getting my TBR a little under 2500 books. I think that is doable, don't you? Let's get started!

Oh by the way, we're starting at 2836 books, because yes I did add 4 books on my TBR since last time nervous laughter

After tragedy strikes, Callie Sinclair is left with a gift she never wanted—the ability to communicate with ghosts. But when a desperate widow begs for her help, she reluctantly agrees to investigate the strange occurrences at Hillwood Farm. She quickly realizes she’s dealing with a dangerous presence beyond anything she’s ever experienced, and something else becomes equally clear—the only other living person in the house, Mrs. Turner’s handsome grandson, thinks she’s a scam artist. While she’d prefer to just ignore him, her heart beats a little faster every time he’s nearby.

Luke Turner doesn’t believe in spirits. He’s moved back to restore the family farm, but living on the property serves a dual purpose—he can watch out for his grandmother. He’s not happy about the sudden appearance of a self-described psychic, or his inexplicable attraction to her. His initial suspicions crumble as evidence points to an actual haunting, but he’s still determined not to fall for Callie—the past has taught him it’s best to avoid relationships.

As Callie is drawn deeper into the mystery, she becomes the target of a vengeful spirit, and Luke can no longer fight his feelings for her. Unable to resist their desire, passion ignites…even as the paranormal activity escalates to a final deadly confrontation.
*Disclaimer:  I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Kathryn Knight. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

**Disclaimer: This book contains mature content. As such my review may contain reference to material intended for a mature audience.

It's been a while sine I last read a book that was centered around an angry ghost haunting a family, so when I saw this tour was open I knew I had to sign up for it right away. I am very happy to say that I was not disappointed by this book at all.

Wednesday Chatter: 5 Books Most Out Of My Comfort Zone I've Ever Read

Wednesday Chatter @ Ruby's Books

Wednesday Chatter is a weekly feature at Ruby's Books where we'll be talking about anything and everything related to books and reading. Click here if you want to see what we talked about in the previous weeks

WARNING: Some bad words might be used in the following post. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Hi everyone! I was rereading Evelina's discussion post about why we read certain books and it got me thinking about reading books that are out of my comfort zone, but most importantly why I read them. And since any thought can be turned into a discussion post, here we are.

Before I start, let me clarify something. Usually, as you've noticed throughout the years I've been blogging, I tend to stick to certain genres. I'm comfortable enough in my reading to know what I need to read at a certain point in my day-to-day life, and I tend to not deviate from those genres because I really don't want to be disappointed. That being said, I've had moments in my life where I felt like I "should" try something else, when I felt like because I was studying psychology I should try the most challenging stories ever, because most of my university colleagues were reading them. Fortunately some of these books were actually interesting enough that I managed to enjoy them, but some of them weren't such a good fit for me. I'm going to share a few of those books, along with who recommended them to me, and why I read them.

Down The TBR Hole #13

Down The TBH Hole @ Ruby's Books

Hello dear book lovers and welcome to another post in the Down The TBR Hole feature hosted by the awesome Lia.

The last time I did Down The TBR Hole I ended things with only 2833 on my TBR, and even though that post was back in February, I'm happy to say that I managed to keep my wits about me and only added 2 books on my TBR. That is a huge accomplishment and I want reward cookies for it. Diet reward cookies. You know by now how this post works, but just in case you don't, I'm going to look through my TBR list from Goodreads starting with the books I first added there, pick around 10-15 books, read the blurb and decide if I still want to read them or not. I allow myself only 4 to add on my maybe shelf if I'm genuinely on the fence about reading them, but I try not to turn my Maybe shelf into a second TBR shelf. Let's get started!

Sunday Post #7: Coming Back & Life Changes

Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday!

I'm finally back to blogging, people! I know I've been a little bit irregular with my posting lately, but that is because of two big reasons: 1) a good old blogging slump, on top of my massive 2019 reading slump (thank you for being in sync, you two *frown*), and 2) a new job. Exciting stuff, right?

Blurb (from Goodreads):
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Joanna Wylde comes a new story in her Reapers MC series…

Peaches Taylor spent the last seven years slinging drinks and dodging drunks at the Starkwood Saloon. Some might call it a dead end job, but to her it was an investment—another six months, and she’d have enough money to buy the place.
Life would've been perfect if Eli hadn’t come home.

Eli King is ready to settle down. He stood by his brothers when they needed him, paying the price for their freedom with his own. Now it’s time to claim his reward—the Starkwood Saloon. He’s got the cash to buy the bar, the skills to run it, and just one person standing between him and his dream: Peaches Taylor.

She’s been driving him crazy since they were kids, and not in the good way. When she was six, she shoved a spider down his pants. When he was ten, he locked her in a closet overnight. Then she hot-wired his car at seventeen, and things got ugly…
They’re adults now, and the Starkwood isn’t a toy to fight over—it’s the hill they’ll die on. No prisoners. No compromises. No mercy.

Peaches Taylor and Eli King are going to war.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**
*Disclaimer: I received an eARC of this book from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review. This does not influence my rating or the content of my review in any way.

**Disclaimer: This book contains mature content. As a result, my review may contain references to content intended for mature audiences only.

Finally, a new story in the Reapers MC world! It seems I've been waiting for this story to come out for a long, long time. As expected, Joanna Wylde makes even a short story pack a punch, so expect a wild ride *wink*.
