I Dare You Book Tag

Abby from AJ's Pages tagged me to do the I DARE YOU book tag and I'm very, very excited to do it! The tag was created by rianna reads and it's such a fun tag, so thank you Rianna for creating it and thank you Abby for tagging me! Let's get started!

1. Dare you to jump backwards: Name a book you went into blindly and it let you down.

Everyone seems to have loved The Night Circus, but I just couldn't get into it. I don't know why, probably a combination of my strange reading mood at the time and the slow pace. I was also confused most of the time by this book, so much so that I got close to the halfway mark and I still had no clue what was happening. I am on the fence if I should give this book a second chance or not. Have you read it? Let me know in the comments.

2. One drink too many: Name a book that gave you a hangover.

The biggest book hangover I ever experienced was due to Styxx (my review here). This 1008 pages mammoth gave me the mother of all hangovers. I wasn't able to even contemplate reading another book for almost a month, I just kept going back and rereading certain scenes from the book.

Which is why I'll be honest, I'm truly scared to read Stygian. I'm not ready for Urian's story, not even a little bit.

3. Spin the bottle: Name a book with a terrible romance or romance scene.

Listen, I've been reading erotic romance since I was a bit too young to read erotic romance. So over the years I've read some bad sex scenes. But sadly not one of them, up until A Court of Mist and Fury, included an earthquake caused by the male's orgasm. I don't know what the hell is happening, but it sounds dangerous.

4. Mooning: Name a book that was too descriptive.

As much as I love The Lord of the Rings, I don't think there's a more descriptive book out there. Tolkien has a way with words, definitely, but he also tends to describe each leaf of a tree. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but it certainly can be quite a difficult read if you don't like pages and pages of description.

5. Scream and Run: Name a book that wasn't descriptive enough or left you confused.

The Night Circus.

6. Staring Contest: Name a book you thought was going to take forever but was over in the blink of an eye.

Oh, so many. The most recent one though is The Hazel Wood (my review here). I thought it would take me longer to read, but I remember finishing this book pretty fast. I'm very excited to see what happens next, as well as the short stories book that I just saw will be a thing!

7. Car crash: Name a book that started great but ended badly.

Let me tell you, In Love With An Angel (my review here) has probably one of my most hated endings ever. At one point I was kind of tempted to read the sequel, but I remember seeing the third book in a bookstore and skimming it, to see how the trilogy ends. Let's just say I was not impressed. At all.

8. Amnesia: Name a book that was forgettable or you forgot you read.

At one point Lora Leigh was one of the authors for me, the ones on my auto-buy list, and I still remember some of my favorite books by her. Midnight Sins however...I have no memory of it. I know I've read it, and I know there were stuff that just didn't work out in the book because of consistency,  but other than that.... nothing. Not one thing.

9. Broken Limb. Name a book that shattered you.

The most recent book that destroyed me, entirely, was Lexi Blake's Master No. The funny part about that is that I knew what was going to happen, since I'm reading this series so out of order it's embarrassing. But I knew what was going to happen, I even told myself "this character is going to die", I knew it the minute the scene started and I recognized it from a later book. And yet I still cried because my heart just...it broke completely. It just...The book basically ripped my heart from my chest, shattered it, and then proceeded to stomp on it repeatedly.

10. Who do you tag?

I'm going to tag:

Have you read any of these books? Did you enjoy them? Don't forget to leave a link in the comments if you do this tag!
