Day 01 – Best book you read last year

Last year I read a bunch of amazing books, books that made me laugh or cry or shudder or frown. So it really is incredibly hard for me to choose just one. I have to say that the book that stands out more is Le Premier Jour by Marc Levy.

Besides the fact that Marc Levy is one of my favorite authors of all times, I have to say I've never read a more unique book than this one. You have a mix of romance, drama, mystery, comedy, thriller and a bit of supernatural that make this book so amazing. What's more amazing is the unique view of how life and humans appeared on Earth. The two main characters, Adrian and Kira, come from totally different backgrounds and opposite theories and beliefs about how life started. The thing I love most about this book is the way the author manages to make those theories work together and to make them complement each other and somehow make some aspects of one theory plausible answers for the questions of the other theory.

This story continues in La première nuit. I believe both books are great, but Le Premier Jour is better in my opinion.

I had a lot of fun reading this book (like with every other Marc Levy book).

Teaser Tuesday (15)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser this week is from Lust On The Rocks by  Dianne Venetta

Lust on the Rocks

“Oh my God...” She felt a brush of light-headedness.
“They’re for you,” he said proudly, decked out in a formal black suit and tie, his
smile rivaling the brilliance of the sun.

Don't you just love that cover? *sighs* Makes me wish I had a Martini right now :P

Top 5 TV Couples: My favorite

Bo & Dyson (Lost Girl)

I just discovered this series, but I think it's one of the best supernatural series out there. I'm so happy I've discovered it. I was also very amazed to see it wasn't inspired by any book. Also, I love the fresh take on supernatural beings. That being said, I love Bo and Dyson together. They are very sexy, funny and cute. And they make a great team, even if they're mad at each other.

Tony & Ziva (NCIS)

I'm so in love with Tony and Ziva. Though I didn't like her at first, to be honest. I didn't like the way Kate left the show, so maybe that colored my view of Ziva. But I do believe Tony and Ziva are perfect for each other.

Castle &Beckett (Castle)

What can I say about these two? I think Castle helps Beckett be a better person and he reminds her that life can be fun. He's a good influence and I really can't imagine of someone better for her. And I think she's the first "normal" woman he's ever been with.

Morgan & Garcia (Criminal Minds)

These two are the main reason why I watch the show. While in itself, it's an amazing show and I love it, the scenes with Morgan and Garcia are the ones that keep me coming back episode after episode. Even though I know this is one of those really special, unique friendships that happen to a few people, I do believe they'd make an awesome couple.

Damon & Elena (The Vampire Diaries)

I love these two together. I hope they end up together soon and that they stay together. I think Damon's way better than his brother, he's genuine. He's not the bad guy in this story, even when he feeds Elena his blood for the wrong reasons (though I was so glad he did it :P ) And he really loves her, enough to let her be with his brother if that's what makes her happy.

Other couples I love: Booth & Bones (Bones); Dean & Jo (Supernatural); Gibbs & Jenny (NCIS); Emily & Jack (Revenge); Alex & Sean (Nikita).

Cover Love (2)

Rabid Reads - Cover Love

This feature is hosted by Carmel @ Rabid Reads. The rules are very simple. Choose a cover (or two, or three), preferably new-ish, and share what you like about it. Grab my graphic or don't just so long as you link back.

My Pick this week:

Archon: The Books of Raziel by Sabrina Benulis

I love black-and-white photos/covers. Add a little spot of color and I'm in love. So it's no surprise at all that I love this cover. I haven't yet read the book, though it's going to my TBR pile.

Waiting on Wednesday (8)

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine ,that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week:

The Selection By Kiera Cass
Expected publication: April 24th 2012
By HarperTeen

Blurb: (from Goodreads)

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Blurb aside, that cover is, as I've told you before, simply amazing. It's one of those covers that convince me to read the book even before reading the blurb. I did read the blurb though, and I think it's very, very intriguing.

So, what's your pick this week?
