Down The TBR Hole #4

Hello dear book lovers and welcome to another post in the Down The TBR Hole feature hosted by the awesome Lia.

Hello my lovely bookworms and welcome to another episode of my attempt to control my TBR. Today we start the count at 3130. Since I'm writing these next few posts back to back, I haven't yet started adding books on my TBR, so we should make it to 3000 books soon. Hopefully. I mean I think so. Anyway. Let's start, shall we?

Do you ever feel like Gandalf being lost in the mines of Moria? Because looking through this list this is how I feel:

  • I have no memory of The Camel Club. While the blurb does sound appealing, I know this really isn't my type of book. I probably added it back when I was trying really hard to branch out and get out of my comfort zone with my reading. Unfortunately, the reviews don't really help me want to read this book. Verdict: It goes
  • A Girl's Best Friend is one of those books I added and I forgot about. Reading the blurb I can see why I added it, especially now since I have a dog of my own. I relate to that blurb. Okay, maybe not the first part with dogs being better than men. In my head dogs are better than any human, but I digress. I'm not sure how a relationship with your doctor works though. And don't give me the "but he's a vet, not a doctor", because I'll fight you! I know doctors, and I know vets. It's the same damn thing. So don't even go there! Verdict: It stays
  • Falling Under would have been a perfect read for me about 5 or 6 years ago, back when I was still closer in age to my teenage years. However now I've grown to expect a little bit more, and the idea of a guy popping up that appeals to the heroine and makes her like/love him all while pushing her away, which is what I understand from the blurb, is not my cup of tea. Verdict: It goes
  • Oooh, Sookie. My dear, dear Sookie. See, Dead Reckoning is one of those books I've had on my shelf for years, but never had the courage to pick up. Forget for a second about the fact that I DNFed the previous book in the series, but going forward with the Southern Vampires Mysteries is scary, after the originally planned 10 books. I do plan to finish reading the series this year, so I guess at some point I'll get to read this book. Verdict: It stays
  • Wicked Lovely sounds right up my alley, what with the use of faeries as the supernatural creatures instead of the regular vampires, demons and shifters. I'm curious about this book enough to want to read it, although I'm not sure exactly when I'll get to it. Verdict: It stays

  • I don't really know why I added Asking For Trouble. I mean, maybe I do, if I really think about it, but my almost-adult-ish self doesn't like the idea of pretending to be something that I'm not for the sake of someone else. So if I end up going solo at a family wedding, so what? The reviews also don't really comfort me, so unfortunately I won't be reading this book any time soon. Verdict: It goes
  • Another book I added on my TBR list back in my paranormal erotic romance era was Shifting Desires. I can't really say I still want to read this book with as much excitement as before though. Verdict: It goes
  • Code Blue is another of those books that fell through the cracks. I really have no excuse for not reading it except that I kind of...forgot? I will be reading it soon-ish. Verdict: It stays
  • So Nevermore is another YA book I added back in the day that would have been a match for me. Unfortunately, I'm not really as intrigued as I once was, so I don't see myself reading it soon. Verdict: It goes
  • Strange Neighbors is another book I added because it sounded quirky and fun. However, the reviews don't really sound flattering, and some of my most trusted fellow paranormal readers didn't really enjoy it, so I don't think I'll be reading this one. Verdict: It goes

  • Pleasure of a Dark Prince and actually the entire Immortals After Dark series needs a reread. I can't really remember if I did or didn't read POADP, so I guess I'll find out when I get to read/reread it. Verdict: It stays.
  • To Teach an Ancient God is a rather short book, and I like modern twists on ancient myths. So if at any time this book becomes available again, I might be inclined to read it. Verdict: Moved to the maybe pile
  • Against the Wind is a book I added without even looking at the blurb because of the author. I've previously read a few of her historic romance novels, which I loved, so I decided to try out her contemporary books. I'm still going to read this book, hopefully sooner rather than later. Verdict: It stays
  • The Breeds series by Lora Leigh has been a very important series for me for years. Somewhere along the way I kind of lost the enthusiasm for it, for some reason, but I still remember it fondly. Lawe's Justice is a book I'm planning on reading, especially since Cassie's book is going to be out this year. I am so excited for it! Verdict: It stays
  • Little Women is one of those books that everyone around me seems to have read and loved. Sadly, I don't see myself reading it anytime soon. Verdict: It goes

  • The General's Daughter is a book I added after I found out that this was the story the movie with the same name was inspired by. I saw the movie years ago, so I don't really remember much about it, but I do remember enjoying it. So I'm probably going to read this book. Verdict: It stays
  • Supernatural is an anthology that has one of my favorite authors in it, Larissa Ione, so I am not even thinking about discarding it. I just need to find the time to get my claws on it, but I'm definitely going to read this. Verdict: It Stays
  • One of my favorite shows was Bones. And when I found out it was based on a book series, I just had to read it. Déjà Dead is the first book in the series that inspired this TV show, and I'm really curious about it. Verdict: It stays
  • It's funny how life works. I added Can't Stand The Heat on a whim many, many years ago, when I stumbled upon one of the covers in the series and decided I needed to give it a try. Years later, I interned at a cooking school for a little over a year. While this has nothing to do with the story, it's made me that much more curious about the book, so I'm definitely going to read it. Verdict: It stays
  • The Last Song and actually all Nicholas Sparks books have been on my TBR list for a while now. I'm curious about how the book is different than the movie, so I'm tempted to read it. Verdict: Moved to the maybe shelf

Out of the 20 books I looked over today, I decided to un-shelf 7 of them and moved 2 to the maybe shelf. This brings the total count of books on my TBR shelf to 3124, since I unfortunately did manage to add a few books on my TBR shelf.
